Melbourne Renegades secured a thrilling two-wicket victory over Perth Scorchers at Marvel Stadium, snapping a six-match losing streak against their rivals. The match was played on a criticized outfield, which had been used for a recent graduation ceremony and concerts, leading to a patchy appearance.

Chasing a target of 144, Renegades were in a strong position at 3 for 96 before losing quick wickets. Captain Will Sutherland guided them to victory with an over to spare. Tom Rogers was instrumental in restricting Scorchers to 143 with his impressive bowling performance.

Cooper Connolly top-scored for Scorchers with 66, while debutant Matthew Spoors contributed 29. Renegades’ fielding, particularly Mackenzie Harvey’s outstanding catches and run-out, added to their strong performance.

Scorchers struggled at the start, taking 11 balls to score their first run. Connolly’s explosive innings, including six sixes, helped Scorchers set a competitive total. Renegades improved to 2-1 in the tournament, while Scorchers suffered their second consecutive defeat, dropping to 1-2.
