Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Bangladesh cricket team for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, as announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The team is set to depart for Dubai on January 13 to prepare for their first match against India on February 20. Following this, they will face New Zealand and Pakistan on February 24 and 27, respectively. Mehidy, a 27-year-old all-rounder, has played 103 ODIs for Bangladesh and recently led the team in the West Indies in the absence of regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Additionally, pacers Hasan Mahmud and Khaled Ahmed will also accompany the squad to Dubai for training. The BCB stated that the bowlers will return home after Bangladesh’s opening match against India. The news was reported by Cricbuzz.
