Glenn Maxwell’s struggles in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 continued as he managed to score just 7 runs off 10 balls in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull criticized Maxwell for his poor performance, jokingly stating that he got one more run than his average. Maxwell fell victim to Varun Chakaravarthy’s googly delivery, which undid his defence and led to his dismissal.
Doull praised Chakaravarthy for bowling a brilliant delivery and acknowledged the efforts of KKR bowlers in restricting Punjab Kings to a low total of 111 runs. Despite Marcus Stoinis being dropped from the team due to injury, Maxwell was retained in the playing XI despite his lackluster performances. Doull mentioned that Stoinis might be out of action for a couple of weeks, although there was no official confirmation of his injury during the match.
Maxwell’s struggles with the bat have been a cause for concern for Punjab Kings, as he has only managed to score 41 runs in 6 matches so far in the IPL 2025 season. His inability to read Chakaravarthy’s deliveries and make valuable contributions with the bat have raised questions about his place in the team.
