Former Australia wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has been appointed as the assistant coach for Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Wade, who previously played for GT in 2022 and 2024, retired from international cricket and was not part of the IPL mega auction.
During his time as a player, Wade contributed to GT’s success, playing 12 matches for the team and being a part of the title-winning squad in 2022 under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. Now, he will be joining the coaching staff alongside head coach Ashish Nehra, batting coach Parthiv Patel, and assistant coaches Aashish Kapoor and Narender Negi.
GT welcomed Wade back to the team with a tweet, referring to him as a champion and fighter who will now take on the role of assistant coach. Wade’s experience as a player in the IPL and his knowledge of the game will be valuable assets in his new coaching role.
The addition of Wade to the coaching staff adds depth and expertise to GT’s lineup, as they prepare for the upcoming season of the TATA IPL 2025. Fans can expect to see Wade bring his passion and dedication to the team as they strive for success in the tournament.
