Matthew Mott, former head coach of the England Men’s white-ball team, has joined Sydney Sixers in the BBL on a three-year deal as an assistant coach. Mott, who previously coached Australia Women for eight years, will be replacing Cameron White and working alongside Greg Shipperd at Sixers. He expressed his excitement about rejoining the Sydney Sixers and working with Shipperd, whom he greatly respects. Mott’s coaching career began with the New South Wales men’s side in 2007, and his return to the state’s system will reunite him with former player Rachael Haynes. Haynes, the Sixers’ general manager, praised Mott’s coaching credentials and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to the team’s success. In the recent BBL draft, Sixers retained James Vince and added Yorkshire legspinner Jafer Chohan and West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein to their squad. Mott’s experience is seen as a valuable addition to the coaching staff led by Shipperd and Charlotte Edwards in the women’s program, as they aim to continue building a winning culture at the club.
