Former England cricketer Dawid Malan predicts that the remaining matches of the IPL 2025 season will be rescheduled for September if the BCCI is unable to start the tournament in a week’s time due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The BCCI has prioritized national interests and postponed the league indefinitely. Overseas players have already begun returning home, awaiting further instructions from the BCCI.

Malan believes that if the IPL cannot resume in India or Sri Lanka within a week, the September window is the only viable option due to India’s upcoming test series against England. He also ruled out South Africa as a potential venue due to weather conditions. The IPL has faced similar challenges in the past, such as moving to the UAE in 2020/2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan suggested the possibility of finishing the IPL in the UK to ensure the completion of the season. However, Malan emphasized the logistical challenges and limited venue options if the league were to resume within a week.
