The much-anticipated battle between Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah did not disappoint as they faced off in Match 20 of the IPL 2025 edition. Bumrah, making his return after a four-month absence, was welcomed with a massive six by Kohli on the second ball of the fourth over. The crowd at Wankhede Stadium was treated to an intense showdown between the two stars.
Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop commented on Kohli’s aggressive approach, while former India captain Sunil Gavaskar welcomed Bumrah back to the game. Kohli scored 10 runs off Bumrah, including the six, before eventually being dismissed by Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya for 67 runs.
RCB posted a formidable total of 221/5, with Rajat Patidar also making a significant contribution. Bumrah, however, went wicketless with figures of 0/29. Mumbai Indians got off to a strong start, with Trent Boult dismissing Phil Salt in the opening over. Rohit Sharma, declared fit for the match, played as an impact sub. The banter between Kohli and Bumrah added an entertaining element to the match, showcasing the competitive spirit of both players.
