During the IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, KL Rahul showcased his batting prowess by scoring his fifth IPL century at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Opening the innings with Faf Du Plessis, Rahul reached his hundred off just 60 balls with a boundary off Prasidh Krishna in the 19th over. This century marked his first for the Delhi Capitals, making him the first player in IPL history to score centuries for three different teams – Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and now Delhi Capitals.
In addition to his IPL centuries, Rahul has also scored two centuries while playing for India, bringing his total T20 centuries to seven. With this feat, he now ranks fourth in terms of the most centuries in the IPL, behind Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler, and Chris Gayle. During his innings, Rahul achieved another milestone by becoming the fastest Indian to reach 8,000 runs in T20 cricket, surpassing Virat Kohli’s record.
Rahul’s unbeaten knock of 112 runs off 65 balls, which included 14 fours and four sixes, helped Delhi Capitals post a formidable total of 199 for three in their 20 overs. His exceptional batting performance not only propelled his team to a strong position in the match but also solidified his reputation as one of the top batsmen in the T20 format.
