Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has confirmed that the team will have dual captaincy for the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). India stars KL Rahul and Axar Patel have been chosen for the role, with Jindal making the announcement after the first day of the mega auction in Jeddah.

The franchise retained only four players and was in search of a new captain after parting ways with Rishabh Pant. With the acquisition of KL Rahul for INR 14 crore, it was expected that Delhi would have their captain for the upcoming season. However, Jindal revealed that both Rahul and Axar will lead the team in IPL 2025.

Jindal emphasized the importance of stability in the top order and praised Rahul for his consistent performance in the IPL, where he has scored over 400 runs in every season. He believes Rahul’s experience will be crucial for the team, especially with the Kotla wicket suiting his style of play.

At the auction, Delhi Capitals made some significant buys, including Mitchell Starc and Rahul. They spent a total of INR 59.20 crore to bring in nine new players, taking their squad to 13 players alongside the four retained players. The remaining purse of INR 13.80 crore will be used to fill 12 remaining slots, with four of them reserved for overseas players. The team also has one Right-To-Match card option available for use.

Overall, Delhi Capitals have strengthened their squad for the upcoming season with the addition of experienced players like Rahul and Starc, setting high expectations for their performance in IPL 2025.
