After another disappointing batting performance against Gujarat Titans, resulting in their fifth loss in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Dwayne Bravo acknowledged that finishing had been a major issue for the defending champions this season. With key players like Andre Russell and Rinku Singh failing to deliver when it mattered most, Bravo stated that the team was struggling to find the right balance in their batting lineup.

“It’s a concern. Definitely, those are things that are discussed. You always try to push the players who have experience in such situations. There is a fine line between pushing a player and finding the best combination. We may need to make some changes and adjustments to fill the gap that is currently missing,” Bravo admitted after KKR’s 39-run loss to GT at the Eden Gardens.

Bravo praised the KKR bowlers for their efforts in restricting GT to a score below 200, but pointed out that the batting unit did not perform up to expectations. Without enough runs on the board, the KKR batsmen lacked confidence, further exacerbating their struggles on the field.

On the other hand, GT spinner Sai Kishore lauded his team’s batsmen for their impressive total of 198 runs, which put pressure on KKR. “On a challenging pitch, good batting becomes crucial. It was great to see players like Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill performing well. Their contributions made the pitch seem much easier to bat on,” Sai Kishore remarked.

Despite the setbacks, Bravo emphasized that the KKR players were putting in the effort and training hard, but their performance in matches was not reflecting their preparation. The team will need to regroup and make necessary changes to turn their season around before it’s too late.
