The Indian Premier League match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata was abandoned due to heavy rains on Saturday. Punjab Kings, opting to bat first, got off to a strong start with openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh scoring half-centuries and putting up a 120-run partnership. Despite the strong start, the match was interrupted by strong dusty winds, followed by a thunderstorm and heavy rains, causing play to stop at 9:35 pm with KKR at seven for no loss after the first over.

The match was eventually called off around 11 pm, with both teams receiving one point each from the first washout of the season. Priyansh and Prabhsimran played aggressively during their innings, with Priyansh scoring 69 off 35 balls and Prabhsimran scoring 83 off 49 balls. The KKR spinners managed to bring the economy down before Priyansh was dismissed by Andre Russell. Prabhsimran continued to play aggressively, reaching his second fifty of the season before being caught at long-off off Vaibhav Arora.

Despite a strong start, Punjab Kings only managed to score 34 runs for two wickets in the last four overs, thanks to some tight bowling by KKR. Shreyas Iyer, captaining Punjab Kings against his former team, was let off on 12 but managed to help his team surpass the 200-run mark. It was a disappointing end to the match, but both teams will take away a point from the abandoned game.
