Kolkata Knight Riders have announced Ottis Gibson as their assistant coach for the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League season. The season is set to kick off on March 22 in Kolkata. Gibson, a former fast bowler from Barbados, brings a wealth of experience to the team with over 650 first-class wickets to his name. He also represented West Indies in both Tests and ODIs from 1995-1999 before transitioning into a coaching role.
Gibson has previously served as the bowling coach for the England Cricket Team in two separate stints – from 2007-10 and again from 2015-17. He also had a successful tenure as the Head coach of the West Indies from 2010-2014, during which the team won their first ICC World T20 title in 2012.
Following his time with West Indies, Gibson went on to become the Head coach of the South African team from 2017-2019. Since then, he has held various coaching positions in the T20 franchise circuit. Now, he joins a strong support staff unit at KKR, which includes mentor Dwayne Bravo, head coach Chandrakant Pandit, bowling coach Bharat Arun, spin-bowling coach Carl Crowe, and others.
With Gibson’s extensive experience and knowledge of the game, Kolkata Knight Riders are looking to make a strong impact in the upcoming IPL season. Fans are eager to see how his expertise will contribute to the team’s success on the field.
