Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has urged Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to break the bank and acquire all-rounder Cameron Green in the upcoming IPL 2026 mini auction. Uthappa suggested that KKR should go all out for Green, even if it meant spending up to ₹35 crore on him. Green has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, with MI acquiring him for ₹17.5 crore in the past.
Uthappa, participating in a mock auction, emphasized the importance of Green for KKR, especially after the retirement of Andre Russell. He also purchased bowler Matheesha Pathirana for ₹13 crore, highlighting his potential effectiveness in the team’s bowling lineup. Pathirana, who dealt with injuries last season and was released by Chennai Super Kings, is known for his impressive strike rate in the IPL.
The TATA IPL 2026 mini auction is set to take place on December 16, with fans eagerly anticipating the player movements and team strategies. Uthappa’s recommendations for KKR’s squad additions have sparked discussions among cricket enthusiasts as they wait to see how the franchise will fare in the upcoming season.
