Jofra Archer of the Rajasthan Royals made an unfortunate record in the IPL 2025 opener, becoming the most expensive bowler in the tournament’s history with figures of 0/76. He surpassed Mohit Sharma’s 0/73 from the previous season. Archer struggled against the Sunrisers Hyderabad batters, with Travis Head and Ishan Kishan attacking him relentlessly. Despite trying various bowling variations, Archer couldn’t contain the onslaught and conceded eight fours and six sixes. The SRH batsmen, especially Kishan with his century, made it a tough day for Archer and other bowlers as SRH nearly equaled the highest total in IPL history with 286/6. Archer, who returned to the Royals after missing the 2024 season, was a valuable buy in the auction for INR 12.50 crore. His previous stints with the franchise were successful, and his struggles in the opener will hopefully be a one-off as he looks to regain his form in the upcoming matches.
