England fast bowler Jofra Archer is now considering entering the IPL 2025 Auction at the last minute, despite initially deciding to skip it. He was initially on the auction longlist but was later excluded from the final shortlist, reportedly because the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) did not grant him a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The ECB wanted Archer to focus on recovering from his injuries in preparation for the upcoming Ashes series.

Cricket broadcaster Matt Kabir Floyd confirmed that negotiations are ongoing regarding Archer’s IPL NOC. “Mark Wood and Jofra Archer were on the initial longlist for the auction but were not included in the shortlist. It seems the ECB has denied them NOCs. I’m hearing that there are talks happening between the BCCI, the ECB, and the players’ agents,” Floyd said on his podcast, “It’s Not Just Cricket.”

Archer, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, has struggled to maintain consistent playing time. Despite his injury woes, he was picked by the Mumbai Indians in the 2022 auction and played for them in the 2023 IPL, although he only featured in four matches. Prior to that, Archer had a successful stint with the Rajasthan Royals.

Now, as negotiations continue, it remains to be seen whether Archer will be able to participate in the IPL 2025 Auction and potentially secure a spot with a new team. His talent and potential make him a valuable asset for any franchise willing to take a chance on him despite his injury history.
