The BCCI has made changes to the schedule for the upcoming Indian Premier League. The 19th edition of the popular T20 tournament will now take place from March 28 to May 31. This shift in dates was informally communicated to various stakeholders, with plans to kick off IPL 2026 on a weekend.
Although the official IPL schedule has not been released yet, franchise owners were informed during the auction in Abu Dhabi last December that the tournament would run from March 26 to May 30. The detailed schedule is expected to be announced in the coming week. The IPL governing council has postponed the announcement to avoid clashing with assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu.
The new schedule for IPL 2026 aims to provide a conducive environment for players and fans, ensuring a successful and exciting tournament. The shift in dates allows for better planning and coordination, creating a more seamless experience for everyone involved.
