Several teams participating in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season have already started their pre-season training camps to prepare for the tournament, which is set to begin on March 28 and conclude on May 31.
Chennai Super Kings kicked off their training camp on March 1 at their High Performance Centre in Navalur, with captain MS Dhoni and other Indian players in attendance. Overseas recruits are expected to join later in the month, with head coach Stephen Fleming and bowling coach Eric Simons arriving by March 16.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru began their preparations on February 10, with key players like Jitesh Sharma and Venkatesh Iyer participating in the camp alongside head coach Andy Flower.
Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, held their pre-season camp at the Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Nathdwara on February 16, with around 12-13 players in attendance.
Punjab Kings conducted their training camp in Abu Dhabi from February 8 to 14, focusing on fitness, match practice, and team bonding. The team is expected to have another pre-season camp starting on March 15.
Sunrisers Hyderabad started training on March 1 in Hyderabad with mostly Indian uncapped players, under the guidance of newly appointed bowling coach Varun Aaron.
Mumbai Indians players like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar are currently participating in the DY Patil T20 Cup in preparation for the IPL season, with the team expected to start their training camp around March 12-15.
Other teams like Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants are also gearing up for the tournament with their respective pre-season training camps. Rajasthan Royals, led by Riyan Parag, will kick off their camp on March 15 in Jaipur, while LSG’s main training camp is set to begin in the first week of March in Lucknow.
