The IPL 2026 auction is set to take place on December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, where the 10 IPL franchises will aim to fill the gaps in their squads. A total of 359 players have been shortlisted for the auction, initially selected by the franchises with nine additional names added later.

The players have been categorized into 42 sets based on their primary discipline such as batters, bowlers, all-rounders, and wicketkeepers, as well as whether they are capped or uncapped. Each set has been assigned a number, with the auction proceeding in sequence according to these set numbers.

Set 1 includes capped batters like Cameron Green, David Miller, and Prithvi Shaw, while Set 6 features uncapped batters like Atharva Taide, Abhinav Manohar, and Yash Dhull. Unlike a mega auction, there is no separate marquee set, with even the biggest names being placed in their respective discipline-based sets.

The auction will follow the standard structure, with teams bidding on players in each set to strengthen their squads for the upcoming IPL season. The event promises to be an exciting opportunity for franchises to secure talented players and build competitive teams for the tournament.
