Several players from the Indian Premier League (IPL) are set to miss the last week of the league stage and the Playoffs due to their commitments with the India ‘A’ team, which is visiting England for two First-Class matches and an intra-squad game. Led by Abhimanyu Easwaran, the squad is scheduled to depart for England on May 23, ahead of their first game on May 30.
Among the players likely to miss their teams’ last league games and the Playoffs are Karun Nair, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Shardul Thakur, and Harshit Rana, all of whom have been named in the India ‘A’ squad. Delhi Capitals will be without Nair and Kumar for their match against Punjab Kings on May 24, while Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants will miss Rana, Thakur, and Deep for their final league games on May 25 and 27, respectively.
However, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the India ‘A’ squad in England ahead of the second game starting from June 6, ensuring they won’t miss any games for their franchise. The rescheduled IPL 2025 season’s league stage will end on May 27, with the Playoffs scheduled to take place between May 29 and June 3.
Overall, the India ‘A’ team’s tour to England will have a significant impact on the availability of certain IPL players for the final stages of the tournament.
