The upcoming 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 21, with the final match scheduled for May 25. The tournament will see the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad hosting the first two qualifiers, while the second playoff and the final will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Initially, the BCCI had hinted that the IPL would commence around March 14. However, following a Special General Meeting, it was decided that the tournament would start on March 21. A total of 182 players were auctioned off for a whopping Rs. 639.15 crores during a mega auction held over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last November.

With most teams focusing on strengthening their squads after retaining their core players, many franchises have already begun their pre-season camps. The final schedule for the IPL is expected to be announced in the coming days after consultations with all stakeholders.

In other news, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla has confirmed that the India squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced on January 19. Cricket fans can expect an action-packed season ahead with the IPL set to showcase some of the best talent in the game.
