The BCCI has announced that the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be the venue for Qualifier 2 and the final of IPL 2025, scheduled for June 1 and 3 respectively. Mullanpur will host Qualifier 1 on May 29 and the Eliminator on May 30.
The decision to change the playoff venues was made by the IPL Governing Council taking into consideration various factors including weather conditions. Following a mid-season break, the tournament resumed on May 17 with the remaining 17 matches being played across six venues – Mumbai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur, and Mullanpur.
Initially, Hyderabad and Kolkata were supposed to host the four playoff games but the locations were later changed. This is only the second time in IPL history that the tournament has been suspended mid-season, with the first instance occurring in 2021 due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The remainder of the competition had to be shifted to the UAE to ensure the safety of players and staff.
The upcoming playoffs promise to be exciting as the top teams battle it out for a spot in the final. Fans can expect some thrilling matches as the best teams in the tournament compete for the ultimate prize. Stay tuned for more updates on the IPL 2025 playoffs and witness the action unfold at these new venues.
