Josh Inglis will be sidelined for the rest of the Big Bash League season as he recuperates from a calf injury before joining Australia’s Test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka. Perth Scorchers are hopeful of having Mitchell Marsh back in action after he was dropped from the Test side. Inglis sustained the injury while fielding as a substitute during the Boxing Day Test and is expected to be part of the Test tour to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Marsh’s availability for Scorchers’ upcoming matches is uncertain, but the team is in talks with Cricket Australia to potentially have him play. Jhye Richardson could also feature in the remaining BBL matches after being released from the Test squad. The final game of the BBL season for Scorchers is against Strikers, and the availability of Marsh and Richardson will depend on the squad selection for the Sri Lanka tour. Australia is likely to take three fast bowlers to Sri Lanka, with Pat Cummins set to miss the first Test and Josh Hazlewood still recovering from injury. Inglis and Carey could also be available for Scorchers’ last game, but their participation remains uncertain as they prepare to head overseas.
