Mitchell Starc showcased his bowling prowess during the first day of the second test match between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval, picking up six crucial wickets to help bowl out India for just 180 runs. Despite his stellar performance, Indian fans didn’t miss the opportunity to taunt him from the stands.

As Starc fielded near the boundary, fans could be heard chanting “IPL, IPL, Starcy loves IPL!” and “K-K-R, K-K-R,” in reference to his successful stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. Starc, who played a key role in helping KKR win their third IPL title in 2024, acknowledged the chants with a thumbs up, earning cheers from the crowd.

However, fans also didn’t shy away from teasing Starc about his pay cut in the IPL mega-auction. Starc, who had received a record-breaking INR 24.75 crore deal in the previous auction, saw his price decrease to 11.75 crore this year after being picked up by the Delhi Capitals.

Despite the pay cut, Starc continued to shine on the field, taking six wickets in India’s first innings. He got off to a perfect start by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal with the first delivery of the game and went on to remove key batsmen like KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Starc’s exceptional bowling performance included two phenomenal yorkers to dismiss Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana, his former KKR teammate.

In the end, Starc wrapped up the Indian innings by dismissing Nitish Kumar Reddy as India tried to add quick runs. While Indian fans taunted him about his pay cut, Starc’s on-field performance proved that he remains a force to be reckoned with in the cricketing world.
