Mohammad Hasnain will be making his return to the Big Bash League (BBL) with the Sydney Thunder as a replacement overseas player, marking his comeback since being reported for an illegal bowling action in the competition. Hasnain, who previously played for the Thunder in BBL11, was banned from bowling but has now been cleared to play after his elbow extension was found to be within the permissible limit. Sydney Thunder’s general manager, Trent Copeland, expressed excitement over Hasnain’s inclusion, highlighting his raw pace and match-winning abilities.

Joining Hasnain is English left-armer George Garton, who has previously played for Adelaide Strikers. Garton is seen as a versatile player who can contribute with both the ball and bat, adding a new dimension to the Thunder’s squad. Despite facing injuries this season, including the loss of Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams, the Thunder are currently sitting in second place on the BBL table. Captain David Warner is confident in the team’s resilience and is focused on building momentum as they head towards the finals.
