The schedule for the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been announced, with Mumbai Indians set to play their opening match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23. However, Mumbai Indians will be without their captain, Hardik Pandya, who was fined and suspended for maintaining a slow over rate during the final IPL 2024 group stage match against Lucknow Super Giants. Pandya will miss the opening fixture but will be available for the franchise’s second match against Gujarat Titans on March 29.

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav were also fined for the over rate offense, with Sharma being a potential candidate to lead Mumbai Indians in Pandya’s absence. IPL 2025 will kick off on March 22 with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The final is scheduled for May 25 at the same venue, with Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
