Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been forced to withdraw from the rest of the Indian Premier League due to a groin injury, the team confirmed on Saturday. The New Zealand all-rounder sustained the injury during a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6 and has since returned home for treatment.

Although Phillips had not been a regular in the GT playing XI this season, he was on the field as a substitute fielder during the game against SRH. The injury occurred in the final over of the powerplay when Phillips, stationed at point, chased down a shot from Ishan Kishan. Unfortunately, as he threw the ball back, he strained his groin and fell to the ground in pain. He had to be helped off the field by members of the GT team.

This unfortunate incident makes Phillips the second player from Gujarat Titans to leave the team mid-season. South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada had earlier departed for personal reasons. The absence of these key players will undoubtedly impact the team’s performance in the remaining matches of the IPL.

The Gujarat Titans will now have to regroup and find suitable replacements for Phillips and Rabada as they continue their campaign in the IPL. Fans will be eager to see how the team adjusts to these challenges and if they can still make a strong finish in the tournament.
