Captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan showcased their skills with impressive half-centuries as Gujarat Titans defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 39 runs in IPL 2025. The opening pair’s century stand helped GT reach 198 after being asked to bat first. KKR could only manage 159 for eight in response, suffering their second consecutive defeat and third loss in four home matches.

Gill and Sudharsan adopted a cautious approach, rotating the strike and punishing the bowlers when they made mistakes. Gill’s innings of 90 off 55 balls included 10 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Sudharsan scored 52 off 36 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. The duo frustrated the KKR bowlers with their 114-run partnership.

KKR’s chase got off to a rocky start, with Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan picking up early wickets. Despite skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s valiant half-century, KKR fell short as the required rate kept climbing. Rashid and Prasidh Krishna starred with two wickets each for GT.

The win was GT’s sixth of the season, maintaining their position at the top of the table. KKR, on the other hand, suffered their fifth loss, highlighting their struggles in the tournament. Gill’s classy innings and the team’s strong bowling performance were key factors in the comprehensive victory at the Eden Gardens.
