Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has raised concerns about the lack of recognition given to consistent performers in domestic cricket compared to the Indian Premier League (IPL) stars. He highlighted the cases of Harsh Dubey and Yash Rathod, whose impressive performances in the Ranji Trophy went unnoticed. Gavaskar emphasized the need for players like them to receive the same spotlight and adulation as IPL players.

He also praised Kerala for reaching their maiden Ranji Trophy final without star player Sanju Samson. Gavaskar called on state associations to ensure timely payment to players for their hard work in the domestic season, pointing out the disparity in earnings between Ranji players and IPL players. He expressed disappointment that domestic cricketers, who play more matches than IPL players, often do not receive their due recognition.

Gavaskar urged state associations to match BCCI payments to Ranji players and provide incentives for them to perform at their best. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging consistent domestic performers and addressing the imbalance between domestic and IPL cricket.
