Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly remains optimistic that the Eden Gardens will host the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) final, despite the BCCI not confirming the venues for the playoffs. Ganguly mentioned that the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has a strong relationship with the BCCI, and they are in talks to ensure that the final stays at Eden Gardens.

There was a protest outside the venue demanding the final be held in Kolkata, but Ganguly believes that protests won’t have much of an impact. The delay in finalizing the playoff venues is due to Kolkata finishing its league matches early, which is why Eden Gardens was not initially included in the first list.

The original plan was for Eden Gardens to host Qualifier 2 on May 23 and the final on May 25, but the schedule was pushed back a week, with the final now set for June 3. The proposed shift in venue is due to weather concerns as the southwest monsoon approaches the region.

The CAB has provided IMD data to the BCCI, assuring them that the weather in Kolkata will be suitable for the final on June 3. However, the BCCI believes it is premature to make a decision based on long-term forecasts and will wait for more accurate weather predictions closer to May 25.

Overall, Ganguly is hopeful that everything will be sorted out, and Eden Gardens will host the IPL final as planned. The BCCI has not yet announced the new venue for the final, leading to further speculation in the cricketing community.
