Despite retiring from Test cricket, Virat Kohli may still make a return to England to play for Middlesex at Lord’s. Middlesex director of cricket Alan Coleman confirmed the club’s interest in luring Kohli for a potential red-ball stint at the Home of Cricket. Kohli retired from Test cricket before India’s series in England, leaving the door open for a county stint. The move is being discussed in collaboration with MCC, with the idea of a Kohli-Williamson middle-order tandem being imagined. While the BCCI does not allow contracted players to participate in overseas T20 leagues, a county championship stint remains possible. Middlesex, aiming for promotion from Division Two, will play red-ball matches at Lord’s in September. Kohli’s final days in Test cricket were a mix of highs and lows, with a majestic hundred against Australia in Perth but also struggling with consistency. Despite this, Kohli remains one of the most influential figures in the format. If Kohli joins Middlesex, a showdown with James Anderson could be on the cards.
