The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has offered to assist the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in hosting the remaining matches of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) as tensions between India and Pakistan have led to the suspension of the league. With players flying back home and uncertainty surrounding the future of the season, England has expressed willingness to host the matches if the BCCI decides to relocate. ECB chief executive Richard Gould confirmed their support, stating they will help the BCCI where possible. The IPL was paused due to military escalation near the India-Pakistan border, prompting the postponement of the remaining group stage games and the knockout phase. Moving the tournament abroad is being considered, with England offering a potential option given logistical challenges. Despite the IPL delay overlapping with England’s cricket commitments, the ECB remains optimistic about hosting India’s upcoming five-Test tour in June. English players, including Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer, have already left India or traveled to Dubai amid the uncertainty surrounding the IPL schedule.
