The incident occurred after Rathi dismissed Sharma and celebrated with a notebook gesture, leading to a heated confrontation between the two players. Rathi was fined 50% of his match fees and accumulated five demerit points, resulting in his suspension for one game. Abhishek Sharma was also fined and given one demerit point for his involvement in the altercation. This was Rathi’s third Level 1 offense in the season, prompting the BCCI to take action. The match ban means Rathi will miss LSG’s upcoming game against the Gujarat Titans. The BCCI emphasized the importance of upholding the Code of Conduct in the IPL to maintain the integrity of the game.
