The chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arun Dhumal, has hinted that due to the ongoing administrative uncertainty surrounding the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), the IPL and Rajasthan Royals (RR) may have to consider moving their home matches for the 2026 season to Pune instead of Jaipur. Dhumal stated that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had warned the RCA last year that failing to conduct elections could result in the state losing the ability to host IPL matches.

With two rival factions vying for control of the RCA, the association has been under the administration of an ad-hoc committee appointed by the BCCI and the Rajasthan State government. As a result, venue clearances have become complicated. In light of Jaipur’s uncertain status, RR has reportedly inspected the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune as a potential alternative venue.

Dhumal expressed optimism about Bengaluru potentially hosting matches again, following a fatal incident outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium last year. Discussions between the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and the state government have been positive, raising hopes for Bengaluru to serve as a venue.

Unless the RCA resolves its administrative issues promptly, RR may have to continue playing away from their traditional home base. While no official decision has been made, Dhumal’s statements indicate that Pune could be a likely option for RR in the upcoming season. The article was published on December 18, 2025.
