Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni showcased his vintage hitting abilities as he played an unbeaten knock of 26 runs off 11 balls to lead his team to a thrilling five-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match. Dhoni’s aggressive batting in the death overs, especially against bowlers Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur, helped CSK chase down the target in front of a lively crowd at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Dhoni came to the crease in the 15th over with CSK needing 52 runs off 30 balls. With support from Shivam Dube, Dhoni guided his team to their second win of the season. Despite a dropped catch, Dhoni’s boundary on the last ball of the 19th over set up an exciting finish, with Dube ultimately hitting the winning runs with three balls to spare.
In addition to his batting heroics, Dhoni also showcased his brilliance behind the stumps, becoming the first wicket-keeper in IPL history to achieve over 200 dismissals. Despite the victory, CSK remains at the bottom of the table with 4 points from 7 matches. Their next challenge will be against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 20.
