Prithvi Shaw, the Indian opener, was successfully acquired by Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2026 Auction. Despite going unsold twice earlier in the auction, Shaw was eventually picked up by DC for his base price of Rs. 75 lakh. The 26-year-old has been in good form recently, having scored 183 runs in seven matches at a strike rate exceeding 160 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025–26.
Shaw has exclusively represented Delhi Capitals in the IPL and has played 79 matches, accumulating 1892 runs at an average of 23.94 and a strike rate of 147.46. He missed the IPL 2025 season after being released by Delhi Capitals due to a lackluster performance in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, where he managed to score only 304 runs from 16 games.
