Ashutosh Sharma played a crucial role in Delhi Capitals’ thrilling one-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants, showcasing his ability to stay calm under pressure and take the game deep. In a post-match conference, Sharma revealed his strategy of batting till the last over to unleash his shots during the slog overs. Despite wickets falling at the other end, he remained focused on his own batting and believed in his abilities.

Having prior experience playing at the Vizag ground during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Sharma had a good understanding of the pitch conditions which he used to his advantage. Reflecting on his past season with Punjab Kings, he mentioned carrying forward the positive aspects and lessons learned to improve his performance in the current season.

Sharma also spoke about the valuable mentorship of Kevin Pietersen at Capitals, who he consults for batting advice. Pietersen’s feedback on his innings was that it seemed “too easy” which boosted Sharma’s confidence further. Meanwhile, LSG’s assistant coach Lance Klusener highlighted the importance of building bigger partnerships while batting to avoid leaving crucial runs on the table.

LSG faced challenges with key Indian pacers being sidelined due to injuries, forcing them to rely on a mix-and-match approach with their bowling lineup. Klusener emphasized the need for consistency in bowling and making the most of the available resources until the injured players return. Despite the setbacks, he praised Shardul Thakur for his impactful performance in Mohsin Khan’s absence, providing a strong start for the team.
