Shreyas Gopal, the talented Indian spinner recently acquired by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL mega auction, showcased his skills by taking a hat-trick for Karnataka against Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Despite his impressive figures of 4/19, Karnataka fell short of victory in the match played in Indore.

Facing a target of 170, Baroda seemed to be cruising at 102/1 halfway through their innings. However, Shreyas Gopal turned the game around by dismissing opening batter Shashwat Rawat before taking consecutive wickets of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya to complete his hat-trick. He later claimed a fourth scalp by dismissing Bhanu Punia, but Baroda secured a four-wicket win thanks to Vishnu Solanki’s efforts in the penultimate over.

Baroda currently sits third in Group B with 20 points, while Karnataka is in fourth place with 12 points. CSK signed Shreyas Gopal at the IPL 2025 mega auction for his base price of INR 30 lakh. The spinner has been in excellent form, with 10 wickets in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After representing Kerala last season, Shreyas Gopal has returned to his home state of Karnataka.

In his IPL career spanning 49 games, Shreyas Gopal has taken 49 wickets at an average of 26.16 and an economy rate of 8.11. He has previously played for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and SunRisers Hyderabad, with a standout moment being his hat-trick against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019, where he dismissed Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Marcus Stoinis.
