Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has announced the signing of South African batsman Dewald Brevis for the remainder of IPL 2025. He will be stepping in for the injured Gurjapneet Singh. Brevis, a 21-year-old rising star in franchise cricket, has made a name for himself in leagues such as the IPL, CPL, MLC, and SA20. In the 2023 SA20 season, he was a standout performer, finishing as the sixth-highest run-scorer with 291 runs at an impressive strike rate of 184.17, helping MI Cape Town clinch their first title.
With 81 T20 matches under his belt, Brevis has scored 1,787 runs, with a highest score of 162, showcasing his ability to excel in the shortest format of the game. He made his T20I debut for South Africa in 2023 and has already featured in two matches. Having previously played for Mumbai Indians (MI), Brevis brings valuable IPL experience to the CSK squad.
CSK secured Brevis for Rs 2.2 Crore, highlighting their confidence in his fearless and boundary-hitting style. With four first-class centuries to his name, Brevis is poised to bring an exciting dimension to CSK’s batting lineup. Fans can expect fireworks from the talented young batsman if he gets the opportunity to debut for the Men in Yellow in the upcoming matches of IPL 2025.
