Chennai Super Kings’ captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and batter Ayush Mhatre recently attended the unveiling of the team’s new jersey, which showcased Ashok Leyland as the official sponsor. The event was also graced by MD and CEO Shenu Agarwal and Chairman Dheeraj Hinduja.
The team has already kicked off its pre-season camp in preparation for the upcoming 19th edition of the Indian Premier League. Training at the High Performance Centre in Navalur, the squad is being led by assistant coach Rajiv Kumar and assistant bowling coach S. Sriram. Gaikwad and former captain M.S. Dhoni arrived in Chennai over the weekend, joining Indian players like Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, Mukesh Choudhary, and Prashant Veer. Overseas players are expected to join later this month, while head coach Stephen Fleming and bowling coach Eric Simons are set to arrive by March 16.
After clinching their fifth title in 2023 under Dhoni’s leadership, Chennai Super Kings have faced two challenging seasons, narrowly missing the playoffs in 2024 and finishing at the bottom of the table last year. With the upcoming IPL 2026 season scheduled to begin on March 28, the team is focused on putting their best foot forward to reclaim their former glory.
