Chennai Super Kings have started their pre-season camp for the upcoming 2026 Indian Premier League at the team’s High Performance Centre in Navalur. Assistant coaches S. Sriram and Rajeev Kumar are overseeing the training sessions, with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and former captain M.S. Dhoni already in the city. Other players present include Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, Mukesh Choudhary, and Prashant Veer, all of whom are Indian players. Overseas recruits are expected to join later in the month, while head coach Stephen Fleming and bowling coach Eric Simons are set to arrive by March 16.
After winning their fifth title in 2023, Chennai Super Kings had two disappointing seasons, failing to qualify for the Playoffs. In 2024, they narrowly missed out on qualification, and in the last season, they finished last with only four wins. Ahead of last year’s player auction, CSK made a significant move by signing Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
The upcoming 2026 season is crucial for the Men in Yellow and Ruturaj Gaikwad, with speculation that it could potentially be Dhoni’s last year as a player. If this is true, the team will aim to give their iconic captain a fitting farewell. Published on Mar 01, 2026.
