Mumbai Indians handed a debut Indian Premier League cap to South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch as they faced Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2025. Bosch came into the playing XI to replace the injured Mitchell Santner, after being brought into the squad as an injury replacement for Lizaad Williams.
Bosch’s debut for Mumbai Indians comes on the heels of a one-year ban imposed on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for withdrawing from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season. Despite being selected by Peshawar Zalmi as a Diamond pick in the draft, Bosch chose to withdraw, leading to the ban. In response, Bosch publicly apologized through the PCB, expressing regret for his decision and apologizing to the people of Pakistan, Peshawar Zalmi fans, and the wider cricket community.
A talented right-arm fast bowler and right-handed middle-order batter, Bosch has a strong T20 record, with 59 wickets in 86 matches and a highest score of 81. He was a key player in South Africa’s U-19 World Cup victory in 2014, where he earned Player of the Final honors for his match-winning spell of 4 for 15. Bosch made his senior debut for South Africa in 2024 and has been a consistent performer across domestic formats.
Notably, Bosch played a crucial role in MI Cape Town’s successful SA20 2025 campaign, where he picked up 11 wickets. His inclusion in the Mumbai Indians lineup adds depth and talent to the team’s bowling and batting lineup as they aim for success in the IPL 2025 season.
