Chennai Super Kings (CSK) created a buzz on social media with a cryptic video hinting at their plans for the IPL 2026 mini-auction. The one-minute, 37-second clip featured their mascot Leo at a vegetable market, where hints were dropped about potential auction targets through markers on certain vegetables. Fans were left to decode the clues, with the final scene showing Leo buying kiwi fruit, apples, and a local mixture packet, which was seen as a hint at the franchise’s auction strategy.
Many fans speculated that the kiwi represented a New Zealand player, the apples signified Jammu & Kashmir, possibly pointing towards Auqib Nabi, while the mixture packet hinted at all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Some believed the video suggested CSK may not pursue Cameron Green as their costliest buy, but others interpreted the mixture packet as a general hint at wanting an all-rounder, leaving the Australian star still in contention. The video also hinted at a possible return for Matheesha Pathirana.
CSK, with the second-highest purse of INR 43.40 crore and nine slots to fill, released several players ahead of the season after a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign. They finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in their history.
