Englishman Carl Hopkinson has been appointed as the fielding coach for Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2025, replacing James Pamment. Hopkinson, 43, previously served as England’s fielding coach and was part of the coaching staff during England’s victories at the ODI World Cup in 2019 and the T20 World Cup in 2022. He recently parted ways with England to join Mumbai Indians.

Before his coaching career, Hopkinson played professional cricket, featuring in 64 first-class games, 92 List A games, and 28 T20 matches for English county Sussex. In addition to his role with Mumbai Indians, Hopkinson will also serve as fielding coach for MI Emirates in the ILT20.

Paras Mhambrey has been named as the team’s bowling coach, having previously served in the same role for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Mhambrey, who was India’s bowling coach until August this year, was part of the MI set-up during their IPL and Champions League T20 victories.

Former New Zealand fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan has been appointed as the bowling coach for MI Cape Town in the SA20. Kruger van Wyk, who has experience working with the South Africa men’s team, will serve as the fielding coach. McClenaghan, a four-time IPL champion with Mumbai Indians, represented New Zealand in ODIs and T20Is before retiring in 2021. Van Wyk, who played nine Tests for New Zealand, has also featured in 80 T20 matches.
