The Sixers secured a 24-run victory over the Thunder in the WBBL Sydney derby, with teenage sensation Caoimhe Bray leading the way with a hat-trick. The Thunder, set a target of 143 runs, struggled to chase down the total and finished at 118 for 8, still winless after three matches. Bray’s hat-trick dismantled the Thunder’s innings, reducing them from 33 for 3 to 42 for 6. She dismissed Phoebe Litchfield, Anika Learoyd, and Laura Harris to achieve the milestone. Bray ended with figures of 4-15 from four overs, also removing Chamari Athapaththu.

The Sixers, forced into a late change with Lauren Kua replacing the injured Amelia Kerr, scored 142 for 9 in their 20 overs. Sophia Dunkley top-scored with 43, supported by Alyssa Healy’s 26. Ismail and Voll picked up crucial wickets for the Thunder, including that of Ellyse Perry. Despite a late fightback from the Thunder, Mady Villiers’ unbeaten 24 helped the Sixers post a competitive total.

In the other match of the day, the Hobart Hurricanes defeated the Brisbane Heat by 16 runs in a rain-affected game at Drummoyne Oval. Overall, it was a thrilling day of WBBL action with outstanding performances and close contests.
