The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to ban Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull from commentary duties for IPL matches at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This decision comes after the duo criticized Eden curator Sujan Mukherjee for not providing a spin-friendly pitch for Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) home game in the IPL 2025 season opener. Bhogle expressed disappointment over the lack of home advantage for KKR, while Doull suggested that KKR should consider moving out of Kolkata if the curator does not heed their requests. Mukherjee defended his actions by citing BCCI guidelines that state the pitch preparation is the responsibility of the chief curator and should not be influenced by teams or players. Despite the backlash, CAB stands by Mukherjee and has sought BCCI’s support in this matter. As a result of this controversy, Bhogle and Doull were not present for KKR’s recent home game in Kolkata, and their future commentary duties at the venue remain uncertain.
