Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has returned to Mumbai Indians after undergoing rehab for a back injury. Although he is back with the team, he is unlikely to play in their upcoming IPL match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Bumrah had been receiving treatment at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru following back surgery.
Bumrah has been a key player in Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack since his debut in 2013, playing 133 matches and taking 165 wickets for the franchise. The only season he missed was in 2023 due to a back injury. His most recent injury occurred during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Sydney on January 4, leading to his withdrawal from the Champions Trophy, which India won last month. This setback was the first related to his back since his surgery in March 2023.
Before the last mega auction, Mumbai Indians retained Bumrah for Rs 18 crore, showing their belief in his abilities as a top pacer. Despite his injury, Bumrah remains a valuable asset to the team and is expected to make a strong comeback once he fully recovers.
