Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of their IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7. Bumrah, who was sidelined due to a back injury sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, missed several matches and underwent surgery followed by rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. After gradually increasing his bowling workload and passing fitness tests, he has been cleared to rejoin the team.
Mumbai Indians welcomed Bumrah’s return in a Game of Thrones-themed video on Instagram, highlighting his journey from a cub to a lion in the jungle of cricket. In his absence, Mumbai introduced new players like Satyanarayana Raju, Vignesh Puthur, and Ashwani Kumar, with Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar leading the pace attack. All-rounder Hardik Pandya has also been contributing with both bat and ball.
Bumrah, a crucial player for Mumbai Indians since his debut in 2013, has taken 165 wickets in 133 matches. His return is a boost for the team as they aim to improve their 1-3 win-loss record in the ongoing IPL season.
