Jasprit Bumrah, the pace spearhead for the Mumbai Indians, finally made his comeback after a long injury layoff. He was included in the Playing XI for the IPL 2025 match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium. The 31-year-old had been sidelined since suffering a back problem during the final Test of India’s series against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Bumrah also missed out on participating in India’s successful ICC Champions Trophy campaign, where the team emerged victorious after an eight-year wait. He was unable to play due to the back injury he had sustained earlier. The Mumbai Indians had also been without his services for their first four matches of the season as he awaited clearance from the National Cricket Academy to resume bowling.
Throughout his IPL career, Bumrah has been a key player for the Mumbai Indians, taking 165 wickets in 133 matches. He has been the team’s leading wicket-taker in three title-winning campaigns – in 2017, 2019, and 2020. His return to the team is expected to bolster their bowling attack and provide them with a much-needed boost as they look to secure more victories in the tournament.
