England batsman Harry Brook has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League in order to focus on international cricket and recharge. The 26-year-old, who plays Tests, ODIs, and T20s for England, was set to join Delhi Capitals for the upcoming IPL season. Brook cited the importance of preparing for England’s upcoming series, including five Tests against India and an Ashes tour to Australia. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he has been given and the support he receives, emphasizing that playing for his country is his priority.
Brook had previously withdrawn from his IPL contract with Delhi Capitals last season due to personal reasons. He now faces a possible two-year suspension under league rules for overseas players who pull out late, but exceptions can be made for injuries. Brook played one season in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023, where he scored a century against Kolkata Knight Riders. The 2025 IPL season is set to begin on March 22. Buttler’s resignation as white-ball captain has opened up speculation that Brook could be a front-runner for the position.
