English batsman Tom Banton is set to make a return to Brisbane Heat as a replacement player for Tom Alsop, who has been sidelined from the Big Bash League (BBL) due to a quad injury. Banton previously played for Heat in the 2019-2020 season, where he impressed with 223 runs at a strike-rate of 176.98. He has been included in the squad for Sunday’s match against Adelaide Strikers, but his fitness will be assessed upon his arrival from the UK.
Banton’s stint with Brisbane Heat will last until January 6, after which he will depart for the SA20 series. In the meantime, Nathan McSweeney has been added to the Heat’s squad for the upcoming match against the Strikers, following his exclusion from the Test squad.
Banton’s return provides a boost to Brisbane Heat’s batting lineup, and his experience in the BBL will be valuable as they aim to secure victories in the upcoming matches. With McSweeney also eager to make an impact, Heat fans can look forward to an exciting clash against Adelaide Strikers.
